Selby, Tadcaster, and Sherburn Residents’ Festival

Following the success of previous years, the Residents’ Festival for the Selby area is back.This is a great opportunity for us to encourage the 89,000+ residents living in the Selby region to explore what we have to offer on our own doorstep, enhance the offer for visitors and support local businesses. It’s also a chance for us to showcase the varied and quality offer that is available across the whole of our district, taking in Selby, Tadcaster, Sherburn in Elmet, and our fabulous local villages.
The festival encourages residents to be a tourist at home for the weekend with a number of discounted entries, special offers, one-time only experiences and activities taking place across the district. Visitors can also discover what our venues have to offer with the aim of them planning a return visit and recommending our fantastic businesses to friends and family.
Previous festivals have been really well received and there was a great buzz and interest in both 2024 and 2025, as the York Mix radio roadshow bus made an appearance and schools, colleges, businesses, and the public really engaged with the activities taking place and the exclusive offers available for one weekend only. We are repeating this again in 2026 and the roadshow bus will be travelling around the area and creating interest on Friday 20th March 2026. It will also be parked in the Market Place in Selby on Saturday 21st March within the fabulous farmers market, and we will be live on air with competitions taking place.
All businesses in the area have been encouraged to take part in this free to participate event by providing an offer for the festival by providing a discounted entry, special offer, free cup of tea, special tour, set menu, behind the scenes experience, guided tour, one time only experience or activity etc. All they have to do is provide us with details of their offer by completing the online Google form here -

- Shared across the Visit North Yorkshire, and their partners, social media channels.
- Part of the associated campaign to promote the festival including radio on air adverts, press releases, newsletters, leaflets, and be part of the roadshow on Friday 20th March.
Previous years have provided our residents with some great offers which included behind the scenes tours at Selby Abbey, high tea at Carlton towers, offers as part of the farmers market, special menus in our restaurants and cafes, open gardens, leisure centre offers etc. And we would like to make 2026 even bigger and better!
